The owners of the three animals had moved back to Holland for work and had given their animals into care to local residents, who then begged us to take them over. Unfortunately, the 12-year-old dog Sila had a hard time coping with the change of location. One day after she had eaten her lunch, she went into our front garden in Fallada with the other dogs, lay down and fell asleep forever, or maybe she died of a broken heart.
Voltaire (12 yrs), a Friesian gelding who was a bit upset at first, has now shown himself to be extremely social and gentle in our care, as has Vanya (12 yrs), a baby pony. Both are already well integrated into their small herds.
