As you may know from reading DER TROPFEN, for over a year we have been caring for the inmates of an animal shelter in the Polish Baltic Sea town of Kolberg, located close to Fallada. So we were on site again in January. Of course, as always we placed the neediest dogs in the care of our Doris Zinn refuge, which at present houses 62 seniors.
I found Dunja, who had spent weeks in a quarantine cell at the shelter, lying on her side and completely paralyzed. It was impossible for us to leave her suffering like this for any longer, but we had little hope that she would be able to step back into a handicapped, but still satisfactory life. It was like a miracle: Our dedicated animal caretakers at the Doris Zinn-Refuge made it possible with a lot of care, intensive nursing and physiotherapy for Dunja to learn to walk again. Dunja is now safe in our refuge together with her new dog friends. See for yourself! Dear friends of Pro Animale, let us trust that together we have the chance to make this world an ever better place. Let us feel the joy of opening our hearts and arms again and again to those who are in need and distress. Please stand by us in defending the welfare and rights of our animal brothers and sisters!
