Our Sorisso di San Francesco – Rescue of Akela
Akela (1,5 years) is a Czech wolfdog. Although he has a past behind him that has left a scar not only in his heart but also on his muzzle, he still finds trust in people. Violent and sudden movements (not necessarily directed at him) and loud cries make him uneasy and he recoils, but only if they come from a male person.
Akela was the faithful companion of a young woman who suffered abuse and violence from her husband. Unfortunately, after she was first hospitalized and then sent to a women's shelter for safety, she could no longer keep Akela.
So we were urgently asked by a social worker for help so that Akela would not end up on the street or in a kennel. Of course, we could not close our heart to the wolfdog and took him in.
With other large female dogs, Akela has no problems, with dominant males he competes, but never becomes aggressive. In any case, Akela has great potential for a strong human friendship, he has a deep need for loving human closeness and we wish for him sensitive, experienced dog parents who appreciate his wonderful character and do a lot together with him.
