Our sanctuary Avalon/Ireland – Rescue of 5 greyhounds and a bordercollie

Poetry (4 yrs) – A man had bred Greyhounds all his life and earned quite well with them in the famous “Races”. But at some point the man had become old and decrepit and – thank God – could no longer take part in this dreary business. He decided to take the last dog he had out of the kennel and as a “pet” into his house and lived with her. He grew very fond of her, but the man became sicker and sicker and one day found himself unable to care for her any longer – so he gave the dog, which he named “Ready For Dove”, to PRO ANIMALE in AVALON.

We took over the 6-year-old male Border Collie from a disastrous isolation situation. We heard about the lonely and run-down boy and did everything we could to get his owner to hand him over. Lovely was completely emaciated and covered in fleas and ticks when he came to us. A very warm welcome!

Niniel (1.5 years) and Nicholas (2 years) were to be euthanised by their breeder in Co Clare. A very warm welcome to both of you!

Nuala (2 years) and Nathaniel (4 years) should be retired and euthanised by their breeder from Co. Tipperary. A very warm welcome to both of you!
