Antoine (17 years) was rescued from international animal death transport to one of Italy’s slaughterhouses. “In the Netherlands, a farmer had acquired me as a pastime for his children. In a calf Iglo I should live a desolate, lonely existence. Suddenly nobody was interested in me anymore. The days seemed endless and I seemed to be thrown into nothingness. One day the farmer came, grabbed me and sold me to a cattle dealer. I didn’t know where to go with my fear of death … From one cattle dealer’s barn to another. I sensed more and more mischief brewing from the angry, fearful behavior of my fellow sufferers – until one day someone came along who seemed to mean well with me …” Our little Antoine is still a bit timid, already neutered and has become a companion to our Ezechiel (also boarding with Norbert Kollmer).
